A Band of Brothers

If you know anything about Nashville, Tennessee, you know that it’s a city that draws musicians from near and far with dreams in their hearts and their back strapped with a guitar. Some are just dreamers, some desire to attain fame, and the very few that stand out are the ones that possess true, raw talent. DNA, a group of three brothers from Imperial, Missouri, are said “without a doubt...[to be] headed for success in the music industry. Strong vocal harmonies, instrumentals, original lyrics and stage presence...the perfect package” (Hard Rock St. Louis, MO). The three brothers: Chuck Callahan (lead guitarist/ fiddler/ vocalist), Champ Callahan (lead vocalist/ pianist/ guitarist), and Chase Callahan (bassist/ cellist/ vocalist) are all influenced by major music legends such as Queen, The Beatles, Muse, and The Eagles. The fluidity to their pop-rock sound strikes the listener as something new, fresh and different. The band says that they want their music to have positive and creative lyrics, great harmonies, and musical excellence.

The brothers, who grew up right outside of St. Louis, are the sons of musicians themselves. Their parents, both with B.A.s in Music, raised the brothers to enjoy the art, and with that introduction, the boys latched onto it and began to practice their skill daily. As kids, the boys say their parents arranged nursing home tours where they would practice sharing their music with the elderly. The brothers say that this was their parent’s way of teaching them how to not just perform, but to understand how to be encouraging through music. Through growing up together, the harmony of the brothers was perfected through their daily practice, usually performing forty concerts per summer on their tours. The brothers have since then played shows up to sixty thousand people. They have opened up for country songwriter, Jeffery Steele in St. Louis and have played at multiple bigger scale venues such as 12th and Porter in Nashville, Hard Rock Café (Nashville and St. Louis), Cicero’s (St. Louis), Plush (St. Louis), Blue Note (St. Louis), Apple Butter Festival (St. Louis), Opry Mills Mall (Nashville), and Ivory Theatre. The band of brothers have a promotional tour in the works for this summer (2013) that will be in music hot-spots all over the country.

DNA released their six-track EP, “Personality,” in October of last year. The album can be found online at dnastl.bandcamp.com. The full length album is set to release on April 1st entitled, "Plenty of Thoughts," which will be available on iTunes and Amazon for purchase.

DNA is one of those bands that will make it in Nashville and any other city they may visit. They are just as they’ve named themselves: a band with a composition so unique, there is no other band that measures up in any identical form.
